Future Vision
Since Tom Boyd first founded the program in 1999, we have been nomadic, operating at many different facilities throughout the Treasure Valley and sometimes even moving to a new location each year.
The lack of a permanent, dedicated facility has always limited our ability to truly stabilize operations and significantly expand our services. We are working toward a long-term vision of securing a permanent, dedicated facility. A permanent facility would allow us to:
- Expand our services to serve more children in our community
- Increase volunteer opportunities
- More efficiently utilize our valuable horse, staff, and volunteer resources
According to the Idaho Horse Board, Idaho has the highest number of horses per capita in the United States. At Ride for Joy, we believe the capitol city of a state with that amazing statistic deserves a high quality, thriving therapeutic riding center, not just a seasonal program limited to operating a couple of days a week, where children with special needs can improve their quality of life and share in Idaho’s heritage through the joyful experience of horseback riding. Ride for Joy has the experience, knowledge and track record to be well-positioned for future growth, but we need the community’s help to ensure that we have a forever home and the financial reserves to promise our horses a forever home, too. Please consider making a donation to help us continue to stride forward toward our vision as a center of excellence for equine assisted activities for children with special needs. |
