EQUINES+ART+ICE CREAM=ALL ABILITIES CAMP!

Ride for Joy hosted 20 students with a range of ages for All Abilities Camp 2021 at the Hands of Promise campus on June 9th. This camp is designed for anyone to attend, whether they experience special needs or live with a chronic illness. This is an opportunity for siblings of our typical students to ride with their brother or sister who does not have a medical diagnosis. They get to enjoy what Ride for Joy is all about together for camp!

This year campers enjoyed:

  • A Paint Horse Station

  • Horseback Riding

  • Crafts

  • Horsemanship

  • Grooming

  • Stable Management

  • Horse Relays & Arena Games

  • Face Painting

  • Cornhole

  • Chalk Art

  • Stretching & Yard Games

Stella's provided a surprise at the end of camp with an adorable ice cream station for campers to order their favorite treat and cool down in the summer heat.

Overheard from our campers at camp:

"I can't wait to ride my horse, I couldn't sleep last night I was so excited"..."I wish I could take Thor (RFJ horse) home with me"..."This was my favorite part of the summer; way better than basketball camp."

From an RFJ Parent, "Abby is still talking about how much fun she had at camp. She LOVED it!"

Many parents participated directly in camp as well; especially wrangling some of our younger riders in the 4 & 5 age range.

Ride for Joy staff & volunteers look forward to this event each year, and we were so excited to host it again after the 2020 Covid-19 break. Many thanks to all our amazing staff, volunteers and board members who were involved in making this wonderful camp happen!
