Bonding Bridles

Bonding Bridles supports personal development and growth for youth in foster care, as well as an opportunity for youth to build relationships with a trusted adult.

Youth and adults will build communication and teamwork skills while working with an equine partner. You will learn how to communicate with your horse while grooming, leading, saddling, and riding. Most importantly, you’ll have fun along the way!

This program requires a commitment to attend three 1-hour long sessions, with 2 days of ground work and 1 day of riding (for the youth).

Eligibility

Foster youth ages 11-14 and a trusted adult (parent/guardian, aunt or uncle, grandparent, etc.)

To ride, youth must meet these criteria:

  • Weigh 200 lbs or less

  • Physically able to sit with torso vertical and legs astride the horse

  • Physically able to maintain head and neck position without assistance
